BigMile, supplier of software for calculating and analyzing transport-related CO emissions2, announces that Dyon van Gaans (58) will take over from Jack Pool as CEO as of 1 February 2022. With the arrival of Van Gaans, BigMile enters a new phase to realise the company’s global growth ambitions.
Van Gaans previously worked at PTV Group, where he gained over thirty years of experience in various positions. In his last position he was VP North West Europe. He is known as a pioneer and thoroughbred entrepreneur. Under his leadership the Benelux region became the most important sales market of the globally operating PTV Group. Partly because of this, Van Gaans and his team have made an important contribution to the development of PTV’s trip and route planning software.
BigMile originated from Top Sector Logistics and Connekt in the Netherlands and has been an independently operating international company since the summer of 2020. Van Gaans will take the international expansion of the company to the next level. ‘We are very pleased with the arrival of Dyon van Gaans. With his knowledge of software development combined with extensive experience in the logistics industry, he is the right person to lead our rapidly growing organisation and to manage its further expansion in a professional manner’, says Jack Pool about his successor.
On his choice for BigMile, Van Gaans says: ‘It may sound a bit cliché, but thanks to my daughters it has become crystal clear to me that we all have to make a contribution if we want to leave a better world for our children. It is therefore extremely important that we are all aware of our emissions. BigMile provides a fantastic product for this. It holds up a mirror to every company that has something to transport and provides them with a good benchmark. Sometimes the results are confronting, but sooner or later every company will have to take responsibility. And fortunately a lot of companies are already doing that. ‘
The fact that BigMile has built up an impressive customer portfolio in its relatively short existence is therefore not surprising, according to Van Gaans. ‘BigMile is thé standard platform for transport-related carbon footprint optimisation. I am very much looking forward to building on the success of BigMile worldwide’, says Van Gaans.
