The European specialist for calculating and optimizing the CO2 footprint in the supply chain starts in the DACH region. In line with their international ambition, BigMile is now expanding their offices. This month a subsidiary is officially founded in Germany.
With the newly founded BigMile Germany GmbH in Karlsruhe, BigMile’s SaaS software solution for calculating and optimizing the CO2 footprint is now also available to the logistics industry in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The standard for CO2 calculation
In order to reduce CO2 emissions within the supply chain, having the most accurate and viable determination of the CO2 footprint available is of the utmost importance. Due to the large number of variables and application that influence this calculation, this task can be demanding. The solution to this challenge is called BigMile; the SaaS standard platform for calculating, analyzing and optimizing the supply chain carbon footprint. With the help of BigMile, shippers and transport service providers automatically meet European data collection and reporting standards for emissions in the logistics industry.

Above all, BigMile users are able to use this powerful analysis tool for operational optimization of emissions and the associated costs. This is all the more important for shippers from industry and trade, as well as logistics service providers, as the constantly stricter EU climate targets and the associated laws and regulations require concrete action.
All types of data, worldwide
BigMile takes all modalities into account (truck, ship, train and plane, and future alternatives such as cargo bikes and drones will be implemented) as well as warehouses and depots along the entire supply chain. A very nice advantage of this solution: The platform enables cross-company action and the development of the associated (often big) potential. Intelligent data sharing, which allows the companies involved to exchange relevant data with one another, is one of the solution’s unique selling points. It goes without saying that the highest standards for continuous data security are guaranteed.
In The Netherlands, BigMile was founded from logistics practices and in close cooperation with the CO2 reduction program Lean & Green. Over 200 users are already using the platform to gain useful insight in their actual carbon footprint in order to reduce it efficiently. These include many well-known international companies, like DHL, DPD, Van den Bosch, Ceva, PostNL, Ricoh, ABInBev and more. Some of which are already using the BigMile solution successfully in Europe or worldwide.
